I’m back with my thoughts on book two in the Harry Potter series – The Chamber of Secrets! While I didn’t love this installment quite as much as the first book, returning to Hogwarts alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione still gave me all the magical feels.
In this book, Harry starts hearing creepy voices while a sinister legend called the Chamber of Secrets threatens students at the school. Our trio has to get to the bottom of the mystery while also dealing with a mischievous house elf named Dobby, some tricky new professors, and an arrogant rival named Gilderoy Lockhart.
I really enjoyed getting more into the history and legends surrounding Hogwarts through the Chamber of Secrets storyline. Learning more about the castle’s founders and the mysteries within its walls adds even more depth to the wizarding world.
We’re also introduced to the lovable character Dobby the house elf in this book! His quirky personality and intense devotion to Harry despite only just meeting him provides some hilarious and heartfelt moments.
While I still love escaping into J.K. Rowling’s magical universe, this second installment fell a bit short of the first book’s wonder for me.
However, it was still an enjoyable ride back to Hogwarts with more spells, potions and adventures with Harry and his friends. I can’t wait to start book three soon and continue following along on their journey! I’m giving this one 3.5 out of 5 stars.
So pick up that wand and hold on tight – it’s time to dive back into the wizarding world!
