Young wizard-in-training Harry Potter prepares for a competition between Hogwarts School of Magic and two rival schools, develops a crush on Cho Chang, and wishes above all to be a normal fourteen-year-old.

Get ready for an action-packed return to Hogwarts in the fourth Harry Potter book – The Goblet of Fire! This installment earns a magical 4.5 stars from me.

Being a fan of sports, I loved all of the iconic wizarding world sporting events featured in this book. We get to experience the Quidditch World Cup in the beginning, which was a blast even with the Dark Mark making an appearance.

The majority revolves around the high-stakes Triwizard Tournament between schools Hogwarts, Durmstrang, and Beauxbatons. Harry mysteriously gets chosen as a contestant and has to compete in challenging magical tasks against older students.

This book brings all kinds of excitement – dragons, merpeople, mazes, and the big return of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!

Spoiler Alert – Click to reveal.

Harry’s epic battle with the dark lord is a major highlight.

We also get new fun characters like Hogwarts champion Cedric Diggory, quirky wizarding reporter Rita Skeeter, Durmastrang Champion Victor Krum, Beauxbatons champion Fleur Delacour, and the ghastly Mad-Eye Moody.

Watching Harry face his nemesis with courage and loyalty to his friends gives me chills; but one friend meets a tragic end.

With the in-depth Triwizard Tournament, shocking climax, and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named’s return, this was a riveting and darker turn in the series. I can’t wait to see what awaits in year five as the looming threat builds.

It’s time to dive back into the wizarding world for more spellbinding adventure!
