Get ready to be whisked away to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, because I just finished reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone for the very first time and let me tell you – I’m absolutely enthralled! This magical world J.K. Rowling created totally cast a spell on me.
While I’m slightly late to the Harry Potter bandwagon, I now see what all the hype is about. This book introduces us to Harry, an orphan who discovers he’s actually a wizard on his 11th birthday. He gets invited to attend Hogwarts and embarks on an enchanting new life learning spells, potions and more with his new best friends, Ron and Hermione.
The trio’s friendship is definitely one of my favorite parts of the book. Harry, Ron and Hermione balance each other out perfectly and always have each other’s backs. Their bond keeps growing stronger throughout their adventures together battling a three-headed dog, solving mysteries and unraveling the truth about the Sorcerer’s Stone.
I have to give a magical shout-out to the eye-catching book cover art as well. The intricate illustration depicting Harry playing Quidditch surrounded by other iconic magical imagery immediately draws you in and sets the mystical tone.
I love the magical world J.K. Rowling created including Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, Platform 9 3⁄4, and the game of Quidditch. If I got sorted into a Hogwarts house, I think I’d be in Ravenclaw!
While I still have more to discover in future books, I give this first installment 4 out of 5 stars. The captivating writing makes it easy to get lost in the halls of Hogwarts right alongside Harry, Ron and Hermione. I can’t wait to read the next book and keep following along on their spellbinding journey! J.K. Rowling has created a special world that gave me all the feels – one I’ll definitely be revisiting again and again.
So grab your wand, hop aboard the Hogwarts Express and escape into the wizarding world!
