Book Blurb
It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capital, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to outcharm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute.
The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined — every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favor or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute… and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.
Why I Chose This Book
Is it even a question that I had to get my hands on The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes? As a Hunger Games fan, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this prequel ever since it was announced!
The moment I heard we’d get the origin story of a young Coriolanus Snow before he became the sinister President we love to hate, I was absolutely hooked. And after seeing that chilling movie trailer? I knew I couldn’t wait any longer to dive in.
Finding a pristine copy at the Little Free Library felt like destiny calling – the reading gods were telling me it was finally time to return to Panem and discover what transformed Snow into a villain.
Katniss and the tributes will always have my heart, but I’m thrilled to experience the Games and uprising from a new perspective. And teen Snow’s scheming to climb to success as a mentor? Consider me 100% here for the drama and action!
I can already tell this glimpse into Snow’s past and path to power will have all the strategy, twists and high-stakes moments I craved from the original trilogy. Time to see how the mysterious man of roses became a snake! Let the Games begin.
