Book Blurb

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they’ve never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they’re surprised . . . and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point–not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother’s good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it’s immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious–and dark–their family’s past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn’t over–and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

Why I Chose This Book

Oh, fellow mystery mavens, gather ’round because I’ve just stumbled upon a summer read; Karen M. McManus’s “The Cousins” has jumped to the top of my TBR pile faster than you can say “family drama,” and I’m here to spill the tea on why.

First off, it’s summertime, baby! And what screams summer more than a mysterious island resort, family secrets, and a dash of inheritance drama? It’s like someone took all the ingredients of my favorite beach reads, tossed them in a blender, and served up a deliciously twisted smoothie of suspense!

Speaking of family, yours truly is about to embark on a vacation to visit my own clan. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my relatives, but after reading this blurb, I can’t help but wonder if any of them have a secret island resort I don’t know about. Hey, a guy can dream, right?

But here’s the kicker – you know I can’t resist a good mystery, and “The Cousins” promises to deliver more twists and turns than a rollercoaster at a family fun park. Rich, reclusive grandmothers? Check. Long-lost cousins? Double-check. Dark family secrets? Triple-check with a cherry on top!

So, as I pack my bags for my own family rendezvous, you can bet “The Cousins” will be riding shotgun. Who knows? Maybe it’ll give me some pointers on uncovering family secrets.

Here’s to summer reads that promise to be as refreshing as a dip in the pool and as thrilling as discovering an extra scoop of ice cream in your cone. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with the Story family and their deliciously dark past!
